The official launching of Gurney Food Hall with representatives of Gurney Plaza and Tourism Malaysia MARKETING & PROMOTIONS GURNEY PLAZA Rhythm of Lights › In celebration of Chinese New Year, Gurney Plaza’s centre atriumwas transformed into the illuminating streets of Shanghai. Welcoming the traditional essence of the city, mesmerising and colourful neon signages filled the heart of Gurney Plaza; taking shoppers back to the year 1920. Upon entering, shoppers were greeted by a 12 feet interactive and conventional tram, situated along its track on the urban streets. Beside it, on a picturesque platform with a mixture of signages as a backdrop, rests a pulled rickshaw looking out towards a pink-coloured diner; decorated with glowing neon colours in shapes of Chinese delicacies. Aside the Instagrammable and photo-opportunity landmarks, a luxurious boutique located opposite the diner provides shoppers a chance to browse through a wide range of attires fit for the occasion. COACH Reopening Party › To celebrate its newly redesigned store at Gurney Plaza, COACH invited Hong Kong celebrity couple Edwin Siu and Priscilla Wong alongside local actress Nur Fazura and other guests for its grand reopening party. In conjunction with the Chinese New Year theme, guests were treated to several activities such as calligraphy and dragon beard candy demonstration. Disney Tsum Tsum Mid-Autumn Festival › In conjunction with Mid-Autumn Festival, Gurney Plaza took on a different approach to celebrate the annual Mid-Autumn Fair with Disney Tsum Tsum. Shoppers were enthralled with the adorable Disney Princesses, Monsters Inc., Winnie the Pooh, and Alice in Wonderland characters as they shopped for their favourite mooncakes. Gurney Food Hall Opening › The contemporary Gurney Food Hall was launched officially on 15 October 2020 by Tourism Malaysia northern region director Ahmad Husni Ahmad Basri and Penang Global Tourismchief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan. Hosted by local television host and actress Adriana Adnan, there were various performances including an exhilarating opening performance by award-winning percussion group, BatteryHeadz, and rap performance by Emcee Wey. About 100 CapitaStar members were rewarded with food vouchers and Gurney Food Hall merchandise. Gurney Plaza Presents Hello! London › Shoppers look forward to Gurney Plaza’s festive decorations and Christmas festivities were no different despite the COVID-19 disruptions. As shoppers were unable to travel abroad in 2020, London was brought alive at the heart of the mall providing shoppers with the opportunity to experience its magic as they shop for gifts. Presenting Hello! London, shoppers were mesmerised by the 40 feet tall Christmas tree decked out in red ribbons, gold ornaments and glistening lights. There were plenty of other Instagrammable opportunities with iconic London elements like the red telephone box, underground station signage and double-decker bus. The festive cheer radiated from facades of joyfully-decorated homes, pubs, restaurants and boutiques – inspired by those along Portobello Road in the affluent Notting Hill district of West London.
