CapitaLand Malaysia REIT Management Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as CapitaLand Malaysia Mall REIT Management Sdn. Bhd.) (“CMRM” or the “Company”), as manager of CapitaLand Malaysia Trust (formerly known as CapitaLand Malaysia Mall Trust) (“CLMT”), wishes to announce the appointment of Mr Tan Choon Siang as the Chief Executive Officer, Designate (“CEO Designate”) with effect from 1 November 2021.

The appointment of Mr Tan as the CEO Designate is part of the leadership succession plan approved by the Board of Directors of CMRM and subject to the approval of the relevant authorities. Meanwhile Mr Tan will support Ms Low Peck Chen, the CEO of CMRM, in the execution of strategy for CLMT and the day-to-day operations of CLMT business. Upon the authorities' clearance of Mr Tan's appointment, a further announcement will be made on the leadership succession plan. 

Mr Tan has more than 20 years of experience in financial management, investments, corporate finance, treasury and investment banking. He was formerly the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) of Ascendas Property Fund Trustee Pte. Ltd. (“APFT”), trustee-manager of Ascendas India Trust, a property trust which owns seven IT parks and one logistics park in India and is currently listed on the Main Board of the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (“SGX”).

Immediately prior to joining APFT, he was the Head of Corporate Finance & Treasury at Ascendas-Singbridge Pte. Ltd., where he oversaw Ascendas-Singbridge Group’s corporate finance and treasury activities across the region. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Corporate Finance at Genting Singapore Plc, a company listed on the Main Board of SGX. At Genting Singapore, he was responsible for the company’s investments, financing and treasury functions. Mr Tan joined Genting Singapore in 2011 and held various positions within the company, including Vice President of Investments and Director of Corporate Planning. Between 2006 and 2011, Mr Tan was at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong and Singapore where he was an Executive Director in the Securities Division. Before Goldman Sachs, Mr Tan’s experience also included stints in the Investment Banking Division at Deutsche Bank and the Ministry of Finance, Singapore.

Mr Tan holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
